The Art
Christian Barthold
Christian Barthold is an illustrator, graphic designer, author, music composer and photographer from Cologne, Germany. A versatile and experimental illustrator with a broad stylistic spectrum, his main style is collage. A communication design graduate from FH Mainz, Christian has worked freelance since 1996 with ad agencies, packaging, books, magazines and newspapers and has been published on more than 100 book covers and in more than 70 magazines and newspapers worldwide. In 2005 he was listed as one of the 150 most important illustrators in the world by TASCHEN in the book 'Illustration NOW!' (the first book of that edition). His work in the illustration field includes all kinds of magazines, books, visuals for music and much more. Christian also taught life drawing at a German design school for a few years and right now, he is working on a book about drawing which is due to come out in 2018. As a photographer he freelances for Stock agencies like ImageSource/London and also does free experimental and documentary photography.
